Abstract
The INDIEMAN main objectives are to develop technologies that allow automatic digital NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) of various metallic discrete manufactured components in small series, integrated in upstream automated manufacturing, eg. robot welding. Apart from the temporal and spatial vicinity of inspection to manufacturing, the inspection reporting and NDT data inclusion in other manufacturing data needs to be automatic. The main focus is on small batch (HiMix-LoVol and/or Lot-size-One) manufacturing. Innovative components for e-mobility applications such as cooling systems and/or battery cells will be developed using enabling Laser Beam Welding (LBW) technologies as well as advanced Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models allowing optimization for high efficiency and lightweight solutions. Apart from small batch heavy welded structures, these components will represent use cases of an end of the automatic NDT technologies dimensional scale and batch size that will be developed in the project.
